New Blog!

This is a group of 13 friends and neighbors that get together once a month to enjoy good food and share recipes. Each month a different girl hosts and does all the cooking. Every few months we have a "couples night" which means we get to bring our husbands and two girls work together to host the increased crowd. By the years end, each of us has only had to cook one great meal and in exchange you get to enjoy 9 others!

St. George

We stopped in Santaquinn on the way down to get apple cider slush a la mode at Rowley's Red barn.  They also have a location in Washington (right by St. George).  We also tried their apple cider doughnuts and a pretzel/carmel covered apple and loved everything we got!

Next we stopped in Cedar City and ate at Centro Woodfired Pizza.  We ordered the Rustic bread and the Burrata cheese for appetizers, then had the grape and gorgonzola pizza (add the pistachios and balsamic glaze drizzle), and the Diavola pizza (spicy peppers, honey, and fresh ricotta piped on top).

Breakfast was at First Watch.  We shared a breakfast sandwich, the lemon ricotta pancakes, million dollar bacon, and a hash.

We stopped by the Farmstead to pick up some almond and chocolate croissants to enjoy later (try to go  before lunch time because they run out of stuff).

We ate lunch at Super Chix and tried their BBQ fried chicken sandwich, their fried avocado sandwich, and their rosemary pepper fries.

For Dinner we went to Benjay's Thai food restaurant.  We got the Drunken Noodles, the potstickers, the Panang curry, and a special with asparagus that we didn't love.

The next day Breakfast we stopped by Orange Peel and ordered an "AVA smoothie" (made with avocado and almond milk).  Then we went over to Cafe Feel Love where we ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich, a breakfast Avocado toast, a Cowboy bowl, and their trio of Beignet flavors (we got pumpkin, mixed berry, and strawberry and Nutella).

We headed to Zions at noon, and that put us at Angels landing at 2:30.  This was PERFECT timing because the rangers were heading down just as we got to the top of the hike where the permits are checked so we were able to continue on the chain section.  The crowds had really dissipated at this point which made that part of the hike so much faster and more enjoyable.  The first of November was also and ideal time to hike because the weather was perfect and the leaves were so beautiful (and crowds were low).  We finished the hike and were back on the shuttle at 6:30pm which was perfect for dinner and it was just starting to get really cold.  So we really felt our timing was PERFECT!

Dinner was at Oscars, we got the chip burger, and the pastrami burger, with one order of fries and one order of onion rings.  We finished of dinner with dessert: a warm brownie Sunday and a warmed up piece of carrot cake.

Some other foodie spots we didn't have time to hit:  Pink Box Donuts, Kairos (new Mediterranean spot!), Xetava Gardens in Kayenta, Rigatti's wood fired pizza, Red Fort (Indian Food), Angelica's Mexican grill, Mad Pita express, Wood Ash Rye.
