New Blog!

This is a group of 13 friends and neighbors that get together once a month to enjoy good food and share recipes. Each month a different girl hosts and does all the cooking. Every few months we have a "couples night" which means we get to bring our husbands and two girls work together to host the increased crowd. By the years end, each of us has only had to cook one great meal and in exchange you get to enjoy 9 others!

Montana

Thursday Night dinner at Flathead Lake Brewery (greek pizza, combo pizza, and a couple appetizers), then dessert at Farm to table Ice cream in Bigfork.

Friday Lake baked breakfast (quiche, huckleberry rolls, pecan Carmel rolls, huckleberry bars and scones).  Then we taste tested the oils and vinegars at a shop on Electric Avenue in Bigfork.  We packed lunches and headed up to the Jewel Basin hiking area.  We did the 6mi roundtrip hike to Birch lake.  It took us 3 hrs plus extra time at the lake to enjoy our picnic and pick huckleberries.  When we got home we headed to Columbia falls to eat at Mudman Burgers.  Once we were home we enjoyed huckleberry pie and ice cream.

Saturday we enjoyed breakfast at Lake Baked again.  This time we tried our favorites plus the breakfast burrito which we didn't like.  We shopped some more along electric avenue then headed back to echo lake to enjoy sunning on the dock and paddleboarding.  That night we ate in Whitefish at an Italian restaurant called Abruzzo (lasagna, cauliflower app, chopped salad, Mushroom rigatoni, carbonara, and chicken with rissotto), then we headed over to the Lodge at Whitefish for a beautiful sunset.  We ended the evening at Sweet Peaks ice cream shop in Whitefish.

Sunday: after church we headed in to Glacier National park to drive the Going to the sun road.  When we got home we enjoyed BBQ from Cowboy up Country Cooking in Sommers (meat platter with mashed potatoes and huckleberry bread pudding for dessert).

Monday: We had breakfast at Echo Lake Cafe (Eggs Benedict and  Blueberry pecan waffles) before heading home.
